Adam McDonald, PhD

Licensed Psychologist

About Adam

Dr. Adam McDonald is a licensed psychologist specializing in the treatment of trauma (acute, childhood, relational, and religious), anxiety, and depression. He works with individuals who want to move beyond thinking of their distress as an “illness,” and start understanding it as a nervous system injury that can be healed. His practice is primarily grounded in Mindful-Somatic Experiential Therapy—an approach designed for those who want to move past simply “talking about” their trauma and start healing it in the mind and body.

Areas of Clinical Focus:

While he is experienced in treating a wide range of psychological concerns, Adam’s clinical expertise is dedicated to helping clients navigate:

Trauma & PTSD

Moving beyond symptom management to heal the underlying nervous system wounds caused by acute, childhood, developmental, and complex trauma.

Navigating attachment injuries and past relationship dynamics to help you overcome self-abandonment and foster secure connections.

Supporting individuals—even those who appear outwardly successful—as they navigate challenging emotional states like depression, grief, anxiety, and burnout by addressing the underlying “stuck” nervous system states driving their exhaustion and dread.

Providing non-judgmental care for those navigating religious deconstruction or profound shifts in worldview, helping them rebuild identity, values, and meaning.

A Shared Journey

Adam brings a deeply personal lens to his work. As someone who shares lived experiences with neurodivergence, developmental, and religious trauma, he offers an affirming space where you do not have to over-explain your identity to be understood. He is committed to providing a safe, empowered environment where your unique neurobiology and history are respected.
