An Inventory for Healing, Wholeness, and Nervous System Regulation
“Power is the capacity to mobilize resources to attend to needs.” — Mikki Kashtan
What is a Resource?
A resource is anything—a practice, a relationship, or an environment—that helps your nervous system feel safe and grounded again. This library is designed to provide you with the tools to gently transition from survival to thriving using a holistic approach to psychological well-being.
From Survival to Thriving
We all possess a profound, instinctive ability to meet our own needs. However, when we are placed in highly threatening situations, perceive a persistent threat, or lack adequate external support, our nervous system naturally relies on survival resources (such as fighting, fleeing, freezing, or fawning). While these survival strategies successfully meet our immediate need for safety, they often inadvertently undermine our other core human needs in the long term.
Balancing Your Needs
Balancing these needs is fundamental to your healing. We encourage you to explore our Needs Inventory, Resource Inventory, and Needs-Resource Tree PDF to help you better attune to your needs with resources in a balanced way. As you browse the resources below, keep in mind:
- Some resources will naturally pertain better to specific needs than others.
- Multiple different resources might be required to fulfill a single, deep-rooted need.
- A single, powerful resource might successfully nourish multiple needs at once.
Honoring Indigenous Wisdom: We deeply respect that many of these foundational tools (like breathwork, somatic grounding, and land-based healing) have deep roots in Indigenous and traditional cultures, shared here as a bridge between ancient wisdom and modern psychology.
A Note on Trauma & Nervous System Safety
Resourcing is not one-size-fits-all. What feels regulating for one person may feel highly activating for another. If you experience overwhelm or panic while trying a tool, please pause. We strongly encourage you to explore this library alongside a trauma-informed therapist who can help safely guide your practice.
988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
If you are experiencing an acute mental health crisis, severe overwhelm, or thoughts of self-harm, please know that immediate support is available. You do not have to navigate this alone:
988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
Call or text 988 (Available 24/7, free, and confidential). Veterans press 1; LGBTQ+ youth press 3.
The Crisis Text Line
Text HOME to 741741 for 24/7 text-only crisis counseling.
If you are an existing client, please utilize the personalized Crisis Safety Plan developed with your therapist, or visit your nearest emergency room if you cannot keep yourself safe.
